My name is Caitlin and I live in Jimaní, 3km from the Haitian-Dominican border. For the past year I have been working to build a women's small business cooperative and to promote community-based, social-enterprise initiatives designed to enhance financial literacy and credit worthiness for historically marginalized individuals, particularly Haitian migrants affected by the 2010 Earthquake. As a member of the Civil Innovation Lab, I am coordinating "Hacking the Border" a strategy to transform the border region though innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.
